Rotherham test centre: 53.1% pass rate, £314 to get through it.

Rotherham is a high-volume centre, putting 9,134 candidates through the car practical test in 2025/26. 4,854 passed, so the centre finished the year on 53.1% and 132nd of 308 nationally, 13th of 29 within Yorkshire and The Humber.

That is 3.1 percentage points above the 50.03% recorded across all 317 centres, and 2.7 points above the 50.5% Yorkshire and The Humber average. A centre in this band is usually working quieter road layouts with fewer forced lane decisions, not a softer marking standard: the DVSA marking sheet is national.

Before moving, price the switch: a new instructor or extra travel for route familiarity typically costs £60 to £120 plus two settling-in lessons, which eats most of a gap under about eight points.
